Abstract
An object in radiative equilibrium is considered for the case of an input power that is a function of the object temperature. This concept is extended to an analysis of an HPS lamp cold spot and the influence of the lamp/ballast combination is derived. The differential change of lamp voltage with time is described in terms of lamp parameters and ballast characteristic curves.
