Abstract

As an important geo-strategic fulcrum and marginal zone of political power, border areas are not only the geographical advantage zone of geo-cooperation between countries, but also the sensitive zone of geo-conflict between countries. Since the 21st century, domestic and foreign border research has presented the strategic characteristics and evolutionary trend of advancing with the times. This paper uses Citespace software to compare and analyze the hotspot maps and evolution trends of border research at home and abroad. The analysis shows that the development trajectories of border areas at home and abroad are roughly the same, and they have experienced three periods of “slow-fast-stable”. Comparing the research hotspots in the border areas at home and abroad, its homogenization performance that the research hotspots at home and abroad is focused on the boundary connotation and political attributes, location advantages and border trade, cross-border cooperation and conflicts. At the same time, the heterogeneity of domestic border areas is mainly manifested in: domestic border research is more focused on the game of “national identity and national identity” and the game of “inter-ethnicism and regionalism”. Finally, it is concluded that every country must face and make full use of the geographical advantage of the border and weakening the geographical disadvantage is the long-term responsibility and obligation of every border country.
