Abstract
Security of information is an important concern in the present time. Cryptography consists of techniques to hide information during storage or transit. Compression performs reduction of number of bits in the data. Thus, both compression and encryption are preferably used to ensure maximum security. This paper is an analysis on encryption and lossless compression techniques with added security for secure data transmission over a network. This paper will compare different compression and encryption techniques researched and their respective advantages and disadvantages. The comparative analysis serves to prove that both encryption and compression techniques must be applied for securing data.
