Abstract

With the development of electric power system, the voltage levels of transmission line have increased considerably. There is an increasing concern about the electric and magnetic fields produced by ultra high voltage (UHV) transmission lines. Many methods have been developed for calculating the electric field magnitudes around the transmission lines, a simplified method based on the charge simulation method (CSM) for calculating electric field distribution is presented. After verifying the effectiveness of the charge simulation method (CSM) which is implemented in MATLAB, electric field at power frequency is analyzed for various scenarios like varying height of conductors, different spacing of phase conductors, and variable radius of sub conductors.
