Abstract

Face Sheet thickness is an important criteria in determining the various properties of the composite sandwich. The facesheets can be made up of different materials i.e. of Aluminium, steel, or of natural or artificial fibers such as jute, carbon, basalt or of glass. The face sheets of a composite panel behaves like the flanges of an I beam and they bear the different bending stresses which acts on the beam. The carbon fibers are light in weight and have strength almost equal to that of steel. In this research, different configurations of composite panel, having carbon fiber facesheets and Kevlar® Honeycomb core has been analysed using FEA. During the analysis, the effect of varying face-sheet thickness on Panel Bending Stiffness (D), Panel Bending Rigidity (U) and load to Deflection Ratios has been studied.
