Abstract
The red tide happen more than ten times annual average in the Bohai Sea in 2000–2008. On the basis of chlorophyll concentration retrieved from MODIS, the chlorophyll concentration of the region having occurrence of red tide and the region without red tide in the Bohai Sea was analyzed when the large red tide occurring in 2005 and 2006. It shows the chlorophyll concentration of the region having occurrence of red tide is much higher than the region without red tide. The abnormal water color situation of the region having occurrence of red tide can be clearly found in the remote sensing images. Remote sensing technology can monitor the chlorophyll concentration, so it also can monitor the occurrence and development of red tide in the Bohai Sea.
