Abstract

The primary aim of this research work was to examine the phytochemical constituents found in the methanolic extract of pod of Tecoma stans Linn. using GC-MS and HPTLC analytical techniques. 46 bioactive compounds were detected when GCMS study of methanolic extract of air dried pods of Tecoma stans Linn. was conducted. Out of them, 43 bioactive phytochemical compounds were recognised and tecomine was a notable natural compound present in all the Tecoma species. In this research work, in methanolic extract of T. stans, 15 compounds (Clorius, Mexiletine, Neodol 5, Cetane, Pterolactum, Beta-skytanthine,2-Undecanone, Adapromine, Ortoxine, n-Octylcyclohexane, Limonene diepoxide, Caprylone, Eicosane, 9-Octadecanone, Linolenic acid ethyl ester) were recognised with prominent peaks in the GC-MS analysis in T. stans. The compounds have potentiality to treat many diseases like bronchial asthma, viral fever and diabetes. Clorius, a natural compound can be used in making perfumes. Thus, T. stans plant can be a good source for the segregation of novel bioactive phytochemical compounds which may serve as potential drugs for treating various fatal diseases in the future.
