Abstract

The need for more rapid wireless technologies and the raise in multimedia applications is the major motivating force behind Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) improved recognition. OFDM is a modulation method used to broadcast digital data powerfully in multipath fading atmosphere. OFDM is generally used in various applications due to better spectral performance. In OFDM cyclic prefixes (CP) is been prefixed to each symbol in order to avoid the effect of inter carrier interference (ICI) and Inter-Symbol-Interference (ISI). A ideal reconstruction using wavelet based OFDM contributes acceptable orthogonality and with the parameter Bit Error Rate(BER) is improved. Wavelet based system does not need CP. In this paper, BER performance of DWT and FFT-based are compared using modulation techniques such as 16 QAM and 64 QAM with the various wavelet family namely Haar, Daubechies, Biorthogonal, Reverse-Biorthogonal, and Symlets in the simulation results the Haar function produces reduced BER than other wavelets and hence this function can be used in future communication systems.
