Abstract

Friction welding of Aluminium with Copper without interlayer and with Nickel interlayer were performed. Friction welding parameters were Friction pressure, upset pressure and burn-off length. Three levels were chosen for each of these parameters and Taguchi analysis was done, with bend angle as the output parameter. Burn off length followed by friction pressure and upset pressure were found to be the significant parameters for friction welding without interlayer. Friction pressure followed by burn off length and upset pressure were found to be significant parameters for friction welding with Nickel interlayer. The results were analyzed and possible analysis for the results obtained have been given based on friction welding theory.
