Abstract
This paper proposed a new binary near-azeotropic mixture named BY-5 as the refrigerant of the high-temperature heat pump. An experimental investigation of a heat pump using BY-5 was carried out at high temperature level of 70–80°C on evaporation unit and 110–130°C on condensing unit. The results demonstrated the feasibility and reliability of BY-5 as a new high-temperature refrigerant. In addition, this study presented a new system model to evaluate the performance of the high-temperature heat pump. A comparison of experimental and simulated results was made to validate the presented model. Considering condensing pressure and COP, the simulated results indicated that the high-temperature heat pump system using BY-5 can product heat at the temperature of 135°C with good performance.
