Analysis of 7579 cases of ocular trauma in Zhoushan Island of Zhejiang Province

Abstract

Objective To observe the epidemiological characteristics of ocular trauma in Zhoushan Island of Zhejiang Province.Methods The medical records of 7964 eyes of 7579 cases of ocular trauma in Zhoushan Island of Zhejiang Province were retrospectively analyzed.Results The main part of ocular trauma patients was workers,accounting for 94.87％.The ratio of male to female was 6.3:1.There was no significant difference in the frequency of right versus left eye injuries.Most patients were 21-50 years old.The incidence of ocular surface foreign body was 87.55％.There were high incidences of ocular surface paint chemical injury and high pressure fluid injury.Conclusion The occurrences of ocular trauma are associated with multiple factors.Comprehensive measures should be applied to avoid the occurrence of eye injuries.
