Abstract
AbstractThe eutectic Ni/Ni3B has been found in a number of special hardfacing alloys such as Ni‐Cr‐B‐Si. However, this eutectic has not been studied. This eutectic is a good model. Ni3B has the same crystallographic structure as Fe3C. The combination of HREM with EDX and EELS is a means to obtain together data on composition and morphology of defects and grain boundaries. Here an attempt is made to determine the structure by HREM and to analyse by EELS both Ni and Ni3B. Images of low indexed planes of Ni3B are obtained and interface observed.
