Abstract

In this paper, we propose an analysis scheme of the feathery receiver-initiated transmission (F-RIT) protocol for low power wireless smart utility network (Wi-SUN) system. The proposed analysis scheme is developed taking the turnaround time that deteriorates the transmission performance in implemented protocol under interference environments into account. The proposed theoretical analysis result and simulation result on the Wi-SUN Japan utility telemetering association (JUTA) profile-compliant F-RIT protocol for evaluation shows same tendency. Furthermore, the Wi-SUN JUTA profile-compliant F-RIT protocol is evaluated experimentally using actual Wi-SUN dongles. The experiments under interference environment demonstrate that the collision due to the turnaround time occurs in actual, and it is verified that the theoretical analysis by the proposed analysis scheme is efficient to evaluate the protocol generally.
