Abstract

This article mainly focuses on DC voltage control loop of PMSG which affecting the subsynchronous oscillation (SSO) stability. Based on the established general dynamic interconnection model, the oscillation stability region of DC voltage control parameters is calculated by the eigenvalue method. It is found that a series of ’convex points’ appeared in the stability region are mainly due to strong dynamic interaction between DC voltage control of PMSG and other dynamics induced by modal coupling. Furthermore, by the proposed oscillation stability region, this article reviews the mechanism of the subsynchronous oscillation instability induced by the modal coupling, and the two types of parameters, system operating parameters and VSC control parameters, that affect the system SSO instability. In addition, effective measures to suppress SSO instability of the wind–thermal bundling system is proposed.
