Abstract

Embedded systems can be developed and evaluated by using a testing technique which is used increasingly known as Hardware In Loop Simulation (HILS). HIL simulation provides an effective platform for real time embedded systems development and testing. The avionic sub systems like sensor and actuators are included in the HILS test bed for evaluation of their real time dynamic performance. The Flight Motion Simulator (FMS) is used to simulate the angular rates of vehicle body rotational motion. The physical systems along with numerical simulations and hardware interfaces in the HILS test bed create a considerable delay during simulation runs. This delay leads to unwanted oscillations in the HILS results. Under this scenario the HILS cannot be performed to evaluate the Avionic sub systems. This paper describes thorough analysis of the delay aspect in the HILS runs and modeling of delay in Real time (RT) simulation for understanding its effect. This summary contains 147 words.
