Abstract

Abstract Hybrid composite which is made up of bio fibre woven mat and fibre could be an eco friendly alternative for the conventional materials. In this work, two variants of hybrid composite materials which is a combination of Bamboo fibre woven mat, Aloe Vera fibre Woven mat, and Sisal fibre with epoxy as resin and another two sets of hybrid composites of Sisal fibre with Flax mat and Aloevera mat are prepared by hand laying method having the fibre mats in different positions. The prepared ASTM standard specimens are analysed to measure the unique changes in the features of 4 sets of hybrid composite materials in various combinations, the tests under tensile and flexural loads, water absorption and Hardness are carried out. Mechanical characteristics of the prepared test specimens are evaluated by conditioning the specimens in standard atmospheric condition. As a result, it is understood that to vary the characteristics and performance of hybrid composites, the proper identification and utilisation of bio fibre mats and its arrangement variation plays a vital role.
