Abstract

Abstract The T = 9 2 analogue of the ground state of 63Co has been observed in 63Ni by the 64Ni(p, d)63Ni reaction with 27.5 MeV incident protons. The observed excitation energy of this state, 11.85±0.08 MeV, yields a Coulomb displacement energy ΔEc = 8.97±0.08 MeV in excellent agreement with known values in this mass region. The angular distribution for this state is consistent with assignments of J π = 7 2 − , and, when compared with coupled-channel calculations, yields a spectroscopic factor of 0.21, indicating considerable fragmentation of the strength of the transition.
