Abstract

Tourists who are on vacation and are looking for different sensation, not just enjoying the beauty and pleasure of tourist attractions, staying at a homestay is a difficult experience compared to choosing to stay at a hotel. In addition to offering cheaper prices, homestays also provide tourists with the opportunity to get to know more local culture, local lifestyle, habits of residents living around the destination, can interact with fellow guests and residents. The research conducted in Pagar Alam, South Sumatra Province uses a qualitative research methodology with a descriptive approach that starts from an idea to obtain a complete and comprehensive picture in revealing the facts, situations, phenomena, variables and condition that occur when the research is ongoing and present. This research interprets and presents the data related to the current situation, attitude and knowledge in the community, conflict with the situation, relationship between variables, differences between facts, influence on a condition and others for the sustainability of tourism in Pagar Alam, South Sumatra Province.
