Abstract

This study aims to describe the errors in the use of letters in the thesis of the Industrial Engineering Study Program IST AKPRIND, to describe the errors in the writing of words in the thesis of the students of the Industrial Engineering Study Program IST AKPRIND, and to describe the errors in writing punctuation marks in the thesis of the students of the Industrial Engineering Study Program IST AKPRIND. The subjects of this research are humans in the results of research on the student thesis of Industrial Engineering Study Program IST AKPRIND. The number of theses analyzed amounted to 3 thesis students of Industrial EngineeringStudy Program IST AKPRIND. The data collection technique in this study used reading techniques. The reading technique used is to read repeatedly and carefully the thesis of the selected IST AKPRIND Industrial Engineering Study Program Students. Before recording, the data is recorded on the data card first, then the data card is categorized according to the creteria for spelling errors. The data collected, then analyzed and described. The instrument for collecting this data is using a human instrument, namely the researcher himself. Researchers as implementers who will collect data, analyze, and at the same time make conclusions. The results of this study indicate that there are 101 errors in spelling errors in the undergraduate thesis of Industial Engineering Study Program IST AKPRIND consisting of: (1) errors in the use of capital latters as many as 25 errors, (2) errors in writing italics as many as 21 errors, (3) errors in the use of words front di and ke as many as 26 errors, (4) errors, which include errors in using punctuation periods (.), errors in using commas (,), errors in using hyphens (-), and errors in using signs read the colon (:).
