Abstract

Student numeracy skills are one of the basic literacy skills that primary school students must have. This ability is closely related to students' ability to recognise numbers, simple data, and process them into a certain meaning. This research aims to quantitatively describe students' numeracy skills in primary school mathematics learning. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive method. This method has six stages, namely: formulating the problem, determining the theoretical basis, formulating hypotheses, collecting data, analysing data, and drawing conclusions. The research sample totalled 18 students, consisting of 9 male students and 9 female students. The data collection technique used was the student numeracy test. The results showed that the numeracy skills of male students are equal to the numeracy skills of female students towards learning mathematics in primary school. Both have almost the same average score of numeracy skills. Both were in very high category. Primary school students should continue to be guided to improve all basic literacy skills. Future researchers are expected to research other basic literacy skills so that students' basic literacy skills at the primary school level can equip them in their future lives.
