Abstract

Riam Jito, waterfall located in a protected forest area in Mobui village, is well known of its uniqueness and natural tourism object attractiveness. It becomes an opportunity for the surrounding people, particulary for the Harapan Maju farmer group, which already has a certification for community forest utilization permit (IUPHHKm) to utilize environment service and to leverage their welfare eventually. The feasibility study is aimed to analyse the environment potential and recommend strategies to develop conservational and sustainable tourism object. The ODTWA (Objek Daya Tarik Wisata Alam = Nature based Tourism Objects and Attraction) analysis shows that the Riam Jito waterfall and Maria cave deserved to obtain further development as natural and religious tourism object by reaching its potential level up to 74.5%. According to the SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat) analysis, some major issues to be followed up are related to facilities and infrastructure development, regulation to minimize the social gap and ecosystem conservation, local government and private partnership sector, and capacity building for Pokdarwis as the tourism object management.
