Abstract

This study aims to examine the superiority of Guided discovery learning discovery findings and to determine the significance of the interaction between Guided discovery learning and motivation for learning outcomes of science and critical attitudes of students. The design of this study uses a quasi-type nonequivalent control group design pre-test and post-test type. The subjects of this study were the sixth-grade students of Public Elementary Schools in Mojokerto City 2016/2017 Academic Year. Determination of the sample using cluster random sampling technique, and obtained the research sample is SDK Kranggan 1 and SDN Surodinawan with a total of 144 students. The research data was collected using tests, motivation questionnaires, and critical attitude questionnaires. Data analysis using manova factorial design technique. All calculations use the help of the IBM SPSS Statistics 20 for Windows application program. Based on the results of the analysis it can be concluded that: (1) there are differences in learning outcomes of significant science and critical attitudes between groups of students who use guided Guided discovery learning findings and groups of students who use expository Guided discovery learning; (2) there are differences in learning outcomes of science and students' critical attitudes that are significant between groups of students who have high motivation and groups of students who have low motivation; and (3) there is no significant interaction effect between Guided discovery learning and motivation on learning outcomes of science and critical attitudes of students
