Abstract

ABSTRACT Analcime occurs in a zone at least 12 feet thick in the upper part of the Chinle formation on the south flank of the Uinta Mountains near Vernal, Utah. The presence of analcime in this stratigraphic position and its association with an ocherous lithology permit correlation of this zone with the Popo Agie member (Chugwater formation) of Wyoming. Contemporaneity and similar environment of deposition are indicated by the analcime beds.
