Abstract

In an effort to better understand the wind and its effects on low-rise buildings, a research facility has been constructed at Texas Tech University. The Wind Engineering Field Research Laboratory consists of a one-story test building and a 160 ft meteorological tower. Located two miles from the main campus in Lubbock Texas, the site experiences strong winds often throughout the year. The immediate objective of the research conducted at the laboratory is to obtain a reliable database of wind-induced pressures on the building surfaces.
