Abstract

Software design languages (SDLs) are the formal means of expressing the design decisions and are specifically intended for the documentation and communication of software designs. This paper is concerned with currently available SDLs, their evolution, the facilities they offer, and their future directions. It examines two main groups of SDLs: those based on some “structured English” form (pseudocode), and those which are used as software design toolsets or systems.
