Abstract

Land is one of the most important and valuable assets for every human being. Secure and Legal land tenure provides people and communities with official status and documentation to live in their settlement or on their land and also ensures the provisions of community services and facilities. Secure tenure rights increase incentives to make productive investments on economic productive activities. The unavailability of land rights has consequences for a variety of other rights including the right to occupy a house or rent, the right to sell property or land, the right to vote etc. This present research focused a number of observations regarding the overall land tenure system in Bangladesh, the importance of secure land tenure as well as links between policy and programs designed to improve tenure and property rights and consequent impacts on broad-based economic growth.
