Abstract

This paper discusses an optimized switching pattern for reducing an input current distortion of a matrix converter using a space vector modulation. The matrix converter has 27 instantaneous output voltage / input current patterns. In order to keep low input current distortion, the matrix converter always must select optimized switching pattern. A space vector modulation is one of solution of these problems because the space vector modulation can visualize the switching patterns and can easily consider a mechanism of an operation of the matrix converter. In this paper, all selectable switching patterns are analyzed to reduce the input current distortion. After that, a relationship among effective switching patterns, an input voltage phase, an input current reference and an output voltage reference are considered on the instantaneous space vector diagram. By using these analyses, this paper tries to discuss the theoretical optimized pattern for reducing the input current distortion of the matrix converter.
