Abstract

In order to deal with self-collision detection in fabric dynamic simulation, we provide a set of optimized strategies. In rough detection phase, we use the continuous normal vector cone method applicable to quad bounding volume tree. The method uses the normal vector cone information between every two sub-trees for the pruning, which can filter out more areas where intersection is impossible, thus can improve the efficiency of collision detection. In accurate detection phase, we provide a set of reasonable detection strategies for the primitives within the time step, which can enhance the efficiency of while effectively ensure the correctness of collision detection. Our method can effectively deal with self-collision in the dynamic simulation with the good sense of reality.
