Abstract

In the design of monolithic series-array solar batteries, a tradeoff between resistance losses and active area losses yields an optimum number of cells for maximum output power. A solution of this problem is presented. This analysis can be applied to any series-array technology. The designer can determine the optimum number of cells for maximum output power. The power tradeoff for a nonoptimum design can also be predicted.
