Abstract

The use of wood residues as an energy source is limited by two major problems: (a) the high cost of transportation due to their high volume with respect to their energy content, and (b) the stochastic generation of these materials. A dynamic mixed-integer linear programming distribution model has been developed. The model has been tested and the results obtained show a considerable amount of savings in transportation costs.
