Abstract
Recent advances in knock control include new Cumulative-Summation-based control strategies which have the potential for improved knock control, as well as new strategies for optimizing the threshold level used for defining knock events. The optimization of knock thresholds has been demonstrated significantly to improve the performance of a traditional knock controller. In this paper, the same technique is applied to optimize the response of a CumSum controller. The resulting controller delivers a fast transient response to knock disturbances as well as tight regulatory control about the borderline audible knock condition.
