Abstract

Abstract A field ion microscope observation has been made of an array of parallel dislocations, of mixed edge and screw character, in tungsten. In the particular specimen which had been irradiated to a fast neutron dose (E > 1 Mev) of 5·42 × 105 nm−2 at 40°C evidence was found for the segregation of impurities along the dislocation lines and in the plane between the dislocations. The observation is correlated with electron microscope evidence for the presence of such dislocation arrays in tungsten.
