Abstract
The paper presents an iterative Eshelby method that can be applied to calculate internal stress fields and elastic moduli of multiphase metal matrix composites containing reinforcing phases having different elastic properties, aspect ratio values, and orientations with respect to the fixed axes of the composite sample (e.g., SiC particles and short fibers). It is suggested that the method may be useful for investigating damage problems related to the cracking of particles. 15 refs.
