Abstract
It is important to have a smart energy monitoring system in this era of Industry 4.0. Internet of Things (IoT) technologies have been widely used in smart energy monitoring and controlling of grid statistics for reliable and efficient operation of the grid. This study is aimed at developing a control system for monitoring power use, detecting power theft and for electricity redirection. Hence, features such as: current theft detection, load parameter analysis, automatic power re-routing will be incorporated in the developed system. This will be achieved by the use of a microprocessor, which will act as the central processing unit, and other components such as, current sensors, relay module, an AC-DC isolated power Module (220VAC-12VDC), Bluetooth module, energy meter, internet of things (IoT). The implementation of this system helps solve problems that arise due to failure of the electricity grid leading to black out of an entire area solely dependent on that particular grid and also provides power theft information which is quite valuable to the energy producing companies
