Abstract

A description of an ion bombardment unit is given. Ions of energies between 3 and 15 kev are supplied by a high frequency ion source with post-acceleration. The object chamber can accommodate up to twelve specimens at a time, and a low power microscope is provided for the observation of the specimen changes during the bombardment.
