Abstract

Heat pipes are two-phase heat transfer devices with high effective thermal conductivity. The performance of the heat pipe is greatly depends on the filling ratio of the working fluid. An experimental set up was made fro m a copper tube with an inner diameter of 20.8 mm and outer diameter 22 mm. The Di-water is used as a working fluid. The temperatures at different places on the heat pipe were measured including the temperature of in let and outlet of the cooling water. The results indicate that the variation of filling ratio, heat input and angle of inclination has a significant effect on its performance.
