Abstract

This paper describes the investigation of antenna characteristics of split-ring resonators (SRRs). Antenna propagating at terahertz (THz) region which varies from 0.1 to 10THz is very useful mainly for medical purposes. In order to have antenna propagating at terahertz region, square SRRs which have negative permittivity and permeability are designed accordingly at terahertz region and studied whether they can act as antenna or not. From these models, the antenna characteristics which is the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), return loss (S 11 ) and resonant frequency (f c ) are observed and analyzed. The antenna characteristics are investigated by designing various types of SRRs which is 1-, 2-, 4-cut single-ring and double SRRs using different kinds of substrates which is Teflon, GaAs and quartz.
