Abstract

The aim of present study was to investigate the medical model in special education. Medical model is used to justify a wide range of educational strategies in special education, and it has a major influence on special education methods and strategies. This model is based on the view that all learning problems are the result of some organic disorder or disease. The medical model has a powerful explanatory force in some contexts and deserves to be examined for its part in the evolution of teaching methods in special education.
