Abstract

at Purdue University, where he holds a master teacher position in which he has taught only introductory sociology courses (in very large classes) from 1967 through the spring of 1993. He attended the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Macalester College, and the University of Minnesota as an undergraduate. He completed his MA and PhD. at Minnesota. He held regular faculty positions at Humboldt State College (now university), The University of Texas, and Macalester College before coming to Purdue. He has held visiting appointments at the University of California at Berkeley and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill as a specialist in undergraduate education.
