Abstract

Two decades ago states were being urged to regard their medical education resources as elements of a national system. A thesis of this article is that national medical education resources should now be viewed in international or global terms. This point of view is of critical importance to Continuing Medical Education. CME can play an important role in establishing this perspective, This discussion will present first, the rationale or justification for a global view, and then describe the Annenberg Center's First International CME Conference held in December 1986 as well as plans for the second such event in 1988.
