Abstract
In the United Kingdom, nuclear arms are considered a regrettable necessity in an uncertain world; nuclear weapons are not a "live" political issue at present, and there is no evidence that the public supports disarmament or dealerting forces. The United Kingdom retains its force based on its history, technoskepticism, and the absence of compelling argument for disarmament.
