PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the importance of an integrated architecture in creating an effective knowledge organization (EKO).Design/methodology/approachDevelopment of a conceptual model of the architecture of an EKO.FindingsManagers should strive to develop an integrated EKO but be careful to recognize the many differences in its key elements in doing so.Originality/valueProvides an EKO concept and an understanding of the limitations that exist in operationalizing this concept.
