Abstract
The regulations governing the possession, use, storage, transportation, and disposal of radioactive material are too numerous and complicated to completely commit to memory or for a single person to fully understand. For this reason it is important for licensees and regulatory agencies to build a healthy, cooperative relationship to promote all aspects of radiation safety. A summary of regulatory goals and processes are presented from an inspector's perspective along with suggestions for entities working together to protect the health and safety of individuals and to protect the environment from potentially harmful effects of radiation.
