Abstract
Aimed at the minimization of network loss, an improved algorithm named modified hierarchic genetic algorithm (HGA) for power distribution system reconfiguration is developed in this paper. In the computational module which is divided into two part modules (high layer and low layer), a parthenogenetic algorithm (PGA) is used in the high layer of the module while another improved by common genetic algorithm (GA) is used in the low layer of the module. Combined with parallel calculation, the load flow computation for counterparts is settled in several computers simultaneously. Additionally, some improved strategies to avoid unfeasible solutions are also developed, so that the genetic operation can proceed only in feasible solutions space. The new approach is tested on two test networks and the results show that the proposed strategies have satisfied performances. (8 pages)
