Abstract
The unified power flow controller (UPFC) device is adopted by two series side converters sharing a parallel side converter in Nanjing UPFC demonstration project. The series side converters are connected with two transmission lines respectively, while the parallel side converter is integrated to the low voltage buses of a transformer nearby. In order to accurately analyze UPFC project containing this special UPFC topology, this paper has proposed an improved power injection model of UPFC which can reflect the actual structure of UPFC device. Based on the injection power method, the mathematical expressions of this model have been derived. Then, the User-defined model of improved UPFC power injection model is established in Power System Analysis Software Package (PSASP). Finally, simulation has been carried out in Nanjing UPFC project. The simulation results verify the validity and accuracy of the improved UPFC power injection model.
