Abstract
This paper presents a novel post-fault current controller with an improved torque quality for asymmetrical six-phase (6-ph) induction machines (IM) under open phase case. The fractional order proportional-plus-integral controller (FOPI) is alternatively employed in the inner current control loop of the standardbred indirect rotor field orientation of a 6-ph IM drive. The paper introduces a brief comparison between the FOPI controller and the conventional proportional-plus-integral (PI) based current controller. The simulations results covered different operating conditions and carried out using MATLAB/SIMULINK. In the meanwhile, the simulations results depict the controller efficacy to minimize the induced torque ripple magnitude under both healthy and single open phase conditions based on the proposed current controller structure.
