Abstract

The previously described correction method of PIXE data based on the proton energy loss ΔE and X-ray transmission factors XF measurements has been improved by using a nonlinear relationship XF = g( α, ΔE) for correlating ΔE and XF. A detailed study of the α parameter variation has been achieved by computer for 18 elements ( Z = 13–30) on 70 different matrices. The ΔE range where the precision of the method is good has been greatly extended. Experimental checks have been performed.
