Abstract

This study introduces piezoelectric actuators for blade vibration control and aims to establish both experimental and numerical benchmarks for active vibration control with macro fiber composite (MFC) piezoelectric actuators on engine blades. It also involves optimizing the placement of MFC actuators. Experimental and numerical assessments were conducted on a 3D-printed fan model with integrated piezoelectric MFC actuators. The results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approach, aided by a PID controller, in significantly reducing and damping blade vibrations. This comprehensive study offers a promising solution to enhance aviation engine performance and longevity.
