Abstract
We propose an innovative detector for the new generation of satellite-borne experiments for sub-GeV gamma rays. It consist of a modular structure, exploiting wavelength shifting fibers (WLS) coupled to a thin scintillator crystal and readout by Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs). This type of detector could be used for scientific applications, in the detection of astrophysical gamma rays. A first module prototype was assembled and it was tested in our laboratories in several configurations with a 90Sr radioactive source and cosmic rays (CRs) at ground, to carry out a study of light yield. Preliminary results will be presented in this contribution.
