Abstract

Abstract A problem in mathematical statistics, previously treated by H. L. Selberg in this journal (1940)1, is here taken up for reconsideration. Let 1. 1.ƒ (χ) ≳ 0, − < χ < + ∞2. 2.ƒ (χ) non-decreasing in (− ∞ α), non-increasing in (α, ∞)3. 3. 4. 4. 5. 5. and consider problem of finding for such functions, and the external function if it exits.
